PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS:
(a) Joined the Bar in June, 1927 as an Advocate of High Court of Jaipur State and
was enrolled as an Advocate of Supreme Court in 1951.
(b) Member of the Jaipur State Bar Council 1946-49.
(c) Member of the Rajasthan Bar Council from 1950-53 under the Bar Council Act.
(d) Member of the Bar Council of Rajasthan under the Advocates Act from 1961 till
his death.
(e) Chairman of the Bar Council of Rajasthan from 1963 to 1968. Hosted the Ist
Conference of Bar Council of India at Jaipur in 1969.
(f) Member of the Bar Council of India 1961-1968 and from 1968 till his death.
(g) Member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Council of India and also a member
of the legal Education Committee from
1961 to 1963 & from 1968 till his death.
(h) Managing Trustee of the Bar Council of India Education Trust for running a Model
Law College which shall be deemed
University at Bangalore and for publishing Law Books & Journals on (behalf) of the
Bar Council of India, from 23rd August,
1974 till death.
(i) Member of the Ist Law commission of India headed by the late Mr.M.C. Seetalvad
in 1956.
(j) Member of the Faculties of Law of Rajasthan, Udaipur and Jodhpur University for
about 15 years.
(k) Member-Convener and Secretary of the Rajasthan Legal Education Committee which
was subsequently adopted by it.
(l) University Examiner for LL.B. Examination from 1947 to 1965.
(m) Member of the Jaipur State Laws Codification Committee from 1942 to 1944.
(n) Member of the Rajasthan Laws Codification Committee in 1949.
(o) Member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of India 1961-1964.
(P) President of the Jaipur Bar Association for about 17 years and Rajasthan High
Court Bar Association in 1968-69.
(q) He was treated as the Senior-most Member of the Bar.
ACTIVITIES:
Shri Agarwal was connected with a large number of Educational, Cultural, Charitable
& Civic Activities of Rajasthan.
(a) Educational:
(i) Member of the Executive Committee of Agarwal and Vaish Girl's
Middle School, Jaipur from 1927 to 1937.
(ii) President & Trustee of the Mahila Vidhya Peeth, Jaipur which is a High School
and
affiliated to Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education from 1937 till his death.
(iii) Member of the Executive Committee of the Agarwal High School and Agarwal
College,
Jaipur from 1927 to 1958.
(iv) Member of the Syndicate & Senate of the University of
Rajasthan from 1947 to 1965.
(v) Member of the Governing Council of M.G.D. Girl's
Public School at Jaipur from 1947 till his death. It is the only Public School
for Girls in India. He was honoured by the school in its Silver Jubilee in 1973 and
was presented with a Silver Casket. He
was the only person so honoured.
(vi) Member of the Executive Committee of St.
Xavier High School, Jaipur. He was one of the two persons who were honoured
in the Silver Jubilee function of the school in 1972 and was presented with a gold
medal for his services to the institution.
(vii) Member of the Law faculties of the
Rajasthan, Udaipur and Jodhpur Universities.
(viii) Member of the Legal Educational Committee of the Bar Council of India.
(b) Charitable Activities:
(i) President of the Hindu Charitable Trust at Jaipur
from 1957. The Trust owns property worth about 8 lacs of Rupees.
(ii) President & sole Trustee of the Bansa Sarvajanik Aushdhalaya Samiti from 1945
till death. The
Society runs an Ayurvedic Dispensary at Bansa which serves a large number of
surrounding villages.
(iii) President of the Shanti Ashram Trust which owns resources. At present the
properties of the
trust are worth about 40 lacs of Rupees. In this Trust no donations have been
received from any person.
(iv) Founder of the Rajasthan Educational Trust from his own
resources. At present the properties of the Trust are worth about 40 lacs of Rupees
(In this Trust no donations have been received from any other person.)
(v) Donated about 2000 Acres of Land, the entire Agricultural Land owned by him, 2
miles away from
Niwai Rly. Station to the Bhoodan Movement in 1952.
(c) Public Activities:
(i) Founder Member and First Chairman of the Athaeneum Club, Jaipur in 1943-44 this
club continued upto 1947 when it was merged in the Rotary Club, Jaipur.
(ii) Member of the working committee of the All India Vaish Maha Sabha from
1931-38.
(iii) Member of the Executive Committee of All India Agrawal Federation 1929-38.
(iv) Member of the Executive Committee of All India Marwari Federation 1939-40.
(v) Member of the Executive Committee at Jaipur State Praja Mandal from 1936 to
1941.
Also Chairman of Reception Committee of the Jaipur Praja Mandal Conference in
1938.
(vi) Took part in Praja Mandal movement and was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment
in
Feb. 1939.
(vii) Detained by the former Jaipur Government under the Security Act in
1948 but was released on a Habeas - Corpus
application by the High Court of Jaipur after being in detention for one month and 3
days from 9th June to 12th July, 1948. He secured decree for Rs. 52,000/- by way of
damages against the Rajasthan Government for wrongful
confinement.
(viii) President of jaipur Dalit Udhar Samiti from 1936 to 1948. The
Samiti ran a number of Harijan Schools and got a
number of temples opened to Harijans.
(ix) Founder-Member and Vice-President of
Council of World Affairs Branch at Jaipur 1949-50.
(x) President of Council of World Affairs Branch at Jodhpur, 1966.
(xi) Members of the following Administrative Committee during the time of former
Jaipur State and
present State of Rajasthan :
1. Famine Relief Committee 1939-40.
2. Customs Reforms Committee, 1939-40.
